Entry Forms and results to clubcomps@bclga.org.ukThis year, the final of the 2025 Bucks Challenge Shield was played on the 5th October at Burnham Beeches GC between Chartridge Park and Huntswood Golf Club. The weather was kind to us after rain all day Friday and wind on the Saturday - while we did have some wind on Sunday the sun definitly was shining during the day.
After a very dry summer thanks go to the greens staff who produced a course in excellent condition.
After 9 holes all the matches were very close, however Chartridge Park were up in 5 and Huntswood up in 2.
The matches made a turn during the back 9 and Huntswood fought back. Chartridge were early victors in match number 3 but the remaining matches were still all to play for. Two of the matches went to the 18th Green.
At the stage when the score was standing at 3 wins for Huntswood and 2 to Chartridge Park, Match number 4 went down the 18th Hole, a win for Chartridge would mean that everything would go down to Match number 7 which was at that stage still on the 16th Green.
However, the match number 4 was won by a final putt from Huntwood Team Captain July Dempsey.
At this stage our referee for the day along with the County President returned to the 17th hole to call in the last match, which although they were all square at that point the result was in and Huntwood were the victors on the day. Following the match Huntswood reflected on how long they had been trying to win this trophy and it was definitly for more than a quarter of a centurary.
After the match photo's were taken and tea / coffee and cake provided for the players and their caddies.
Many thanks go to our County Captain, Lois Shoosmith and our County President, Maura Spencer who were both starters on the day and followed the matches up to the very last putt.
Lois Shoosmith welcomed both teams, their caddies and supporters to Burnham Beeches Golf Club for the event and provided some history around the Bucks Shield Trophy, Lois then handed over to Maura Spencer to present the trophy to the winning team.
Thanks to our Referee for the day Rosemary de Lacy.
Congratulations to Huntswood GC Team Captain - Julie Dempsey, Justine Stringer, Claire Harman, Jill Andrews, Ros Stoakes-Nolder, Kasia Reardon and Anne Messer.
Finally, many thanks to Burnham Beeches GC for hosting the Final
