2025 Seniors County Championship

The Seniors Championship was last held together with the County Championships in 2019 at Burnham Beeches GC and, after having been a standalone event for 5 years, it was rightly back with the County Championships. The Seniors Championship was last held at Buckingham in 2018 when Denise Goodacre triumphed.

Here’s how our 22 ladies from 7 of our Clubs performed this year.

Four ladies entered the 36-Hole qualifier for the County Championship where the first 18 holes score counted for the Seniors Championship.

Mo Dawson (Buckingham GC) and Denise Goodacre (Burnham Beeches GC) tied on gross scores of 79, which meant there needed to be a play-off. However, this was complicated in that Mo was playing in the 36-Hole Qualifier, whereas Denise had only entered the Seniors Championship. Denise kindly stayed on and waited for the Mo to complete her 36 holes. It was past 6pm when they finally headed-off down the 1st – for Mo for the 3rd time that day. Mo parred the first, beating Denise, to become the 2025 County Seniors Champion. What a great spirit; well done, ladies.

Bernie Howe (Buckingham GC) won the Seniors Handicap prize with an impressive nett 69 beating Mo Dawson on count-back. Bernie also won the 36-Hole Qualifier Handicap prize with a nett score of 142 and finished 8th in the Scratch Competition thus qualifying for the Scratch Matchplay.

Many thanks to Buckingham GC for hosting the event to an exceptional standard.
