2025 Seniors County Championship

The 2025 Seniors County Championship will be played as part of the County Championships which incorporate the County Championship, Intermediate Championship, County Handicap Championship and Senior County Championship.

Open to any Amateur FULL member of BCLGA with a WHS Handicap Index of 36.0 or lower.

Will be held at Buckingham GC on 8 May 2025.

Cost of Entry £42 (non-B), £32 for Buckingham Members (B), includes a light lunch.

Cost of pre-booked Caddie Lunch for Thursday 8th May is £13.

The online entry screen will ask you for your CDH number and contact details (email, phone and address). Please ensure you complete these as follows:

Thursday 8th May 2025:

County Championship: 36-hole stroke play qualifying for the Gross match-play rounds. Includes Intermediate Championship (for players aged between 18 & 25 on 1 January 2024).

Handicap Competition: 18-hole stroke play qualifier for the Nett match-play rounds.

Seniors County Championship (for players aged 50 years and over on the day of the Championship): 18-hole stroke play Competition and qualifier for the Nett match-play rounds.

Club Competition: If there are 3 or more players from one Club, they are eligible to enter the Club Competition. The winning Club will have the lowest aggregate score of 3 nett scores from the morning round.

Terms of Competition

Saturday 10th & Sunday 11th May 2025:

Players in the County Championships will be asked if they wish to go forward to the matchplay.

Leading 8 scratch scores over 36 holes go through to the match play stage of the County Championships. Leading 8 nett scores from the Handicap Competition, Seniors County Championship and the first round of the County Championships (unless qualified for scratch match play) go through to the Handicap match-play stage.

2024 Seniors County Championship

Our original Seniors Championship on 22nd May was rescheduled due to rain and flooding, to 12th August - the hottest day of the year! However, our Senior Ladies survived the searing heat and lightning fast greens at Ellesborough to produce some very creditable scores.

The Gross Champion was Cathy Armstrong (85) from Ellesborough with Mo Dawson (86) from Buckingham GC, runner-up. Our Nett Champion was Anne-Marie Gilbert (70) from Burnham Beeches GC, who received the new Nett Trophy given by Lois Shoosmith our former Senior Ladies Captain, Pam Heavyside (72) from Wexham Park GC was the runner-up, Credit has to be given to all the players who battled with the searing heat and everyone finished, well done to all the Seniors.

Thank you to Ellesborough GC for hosting the day so well and making us all feel so welcome.
