Junior County Championship

The 2025 Junior County Championship was held on Sunday 13th July at Ellesborough Golf Club.

We had 13 girls in total, 10 playing in the main championship and 3 in the stableford competition. It was a very warm dry day, but thankfully not quite as hot as the previous few days.

The championship was won by Demi Maxey (Woburn) with a gross 72, with Annabel Denyer (Woburn) second with a gross 75 and Sommer Chan (another Woburn girl) third with a gross 79..

The nett competition was won by Kacey Maxey (Demi's sister) with an excellent nett 68, with Demi second with a nett 71 and Annabel third OCB with a nett 71. Because we limit prizes to one per player, the second place prize was awarded to Elsa Gilmour (Beaconsfield) with a nett 74.

There are also two age group cups, U15 (for girls who are 14 and under on 1st Jan) and U13 (for girls who are 12 and under on 1st Jan), both for the gross score. Sommer won the U15 cup and Elsa the U13 cup.

In the stableford competition, Chelsey Cooke (Wexham Park) won with an excellent 42 points. Chelsey started her round with an eagle 2 on the first hole and continued some excellent play.

Many thanks to Ellesborough who looked after us very well. The club provided chilled bottles of water on the 10th tee which were much appreciated. The course was in fabulous condition - fast running fairways and excellent greens and the pizza and chips after play seemed to go down very well. Thanks to James and all his staff and volunteers for all their help and support for the county junior girls.

Demi will go forward to represent Buckinghamshire at the England Golf Junior Champion of Champions at Woodhall Spa in September and her score will also be entered for the Justin Rose Telegraph Junior Golf Championship.

Congratulations to Ellie Lichtenhein who won the BCLGA Junior County Championships and represented Buckinghamshire at the England Golf Girls' County Champion of Champions, which was held at Woodhall Spa GC on Saturday 7th September 2024 - see Results here.
