2025 County Match Week - Day 1 Results - 2 Match Wins for Bucks!

What an exciting 1st day at our home club - Harewood Downs, as Bucks fight to retain our title of Midlands South Champions!

We started our campaign to retain our title with a local derby against our closest neighbour Berkshire.

Our 1st foursomes pair of rookie Meg Cullen and Amelia Curtis were nip and tuck all the way, eventually halving their match.  

2nd foursomes pair Eloise Feeley and Rachel Mackinlay had a convincing win – 5&3.

Daisy Kennedy was up against a very experienced player, managing to win 3&2.

Ella Butteriss’s match was never in doubt with Ella winning on the 13th hole – 6&5.

Lulu Leetham brought up the rear with a convincing win – 4&3.

Giving us a fantastic match win – 4.5 – 0.5 and 2 points on the table.

In the afternoon we were up against Northants, who had had a convincing win in the morning.

Both foursomes pairings - Rachel Mackinlay & Demi Maxey, and Daisy Kennedy & Amelia Curtis performed well to win. Rachel & Demi won 3&1, and Daisy & Amelia won 4&3.

Lulu Leetham achieved a 2nd convincing singles win – this time including an eagle on the 5th hole!

On her 1st outing for the County team, whilst she didn’t win, rookie Sommer Chan performed well against a very experienced player.  

In the last match, Ella Butteriss provided the increasing crowds of spectators with the most drama – up and down all the way, coming back from 2 down to all square going down the 18th. Both girls 1st drives were somewhat wayward, requiring 2 provisionals to be taken. After consulting the referee, Ella’s drive was considered out of bounds, whereas her opponents ball was OK. In the end, Ella pulled off a fantastic chip to within a couple of inches to halve the match.

Overall score was a 2nd match win for Bucks – 3.5 – 1.5, giving us another 2 points which puts joint leaders with Worcestershire & Herefordshire who we will face on the last day.
