Winter Greensomes 2023/24 Final - April 17th 2024

2023/24 Winter Greensomes Champions - Anne Green & Katie Reid (Gerrards Cross GC)

The Final of the Winter Greensomes was held at Beaconsfield Golf Club on 17th April 2024 and was competed for between Anne Green and Katie Reid of Gerrards Cross GC and Diane Hofman and Libby Koivio of Buckingham GC. The weather was cool but dry with strong North Westerly winds.

Anne & Katie were giving Diane and Libby 20 shots but, Diane & Libby got off to a good start, winning the 1st hole before losing the 2nd. Diane & Libby went 1 up on the 3rd hole and the match was back to all-square after the 4th.

Anne and Katie then had a winning streak, getting to 4-up after 9 holes. The 10th hole was halved and then Libby and Diane came back strongly, winning the next 5 holes to go 1 up after the 15th when Diane chipped into the hole for a birdie, net eagle!

Anne & Katie won the 16th taking the match all-square. The 17th was halved and, in a tense 18th hole, Anne and Katie prevailed with the last putt to win the match.

The match was played in great spirit and we really want to thank Beaconsfield GC for their generous hospitality and kindness and a beautifully presented Tea. Our thanks also go to Janet Beal, our Referee and our President, Maura Spencer our principal guest.
