Dear Lady Members, 19th October 2016
What a busy few weeks we have had! There has been so much going on at every level of ladies/girls golf within the county.
You will have seen the results from the County Finals Week. There was some wonderful golf played down at Waterlooville who were the perfect hosts for the week. Our foursomes’ results were very good, only losing one of the five sessions. The placings were very tight and we were not far away from finishing in third place.
On the home front, the Summer Leagues matches are now complete and there are only two knockout finals to be played. The Seniors’ Autumn Meeting and the Interclub Foursomes competition have been held. Well done to the winners of all the respective trophies.
The last couple of months have also been busy for the Juniors. There have been autumn Academy Coaching sessions and Pre Handicap competitions. The Scratch team qualified for the Midlands South Team finals and Georgina Bowers won the Midlands South Junior championships. I am delighted to say that Georgina has been nominated as Junior Captain for 2017, taking over from Megan on 1st January.
The one major event of the year still to be held is the Annual Meeting, on Wednesday 26th October at Harleyford. In an effort to shorten the length of the meeting the reports from all the other members of the Exec are available to read in advance. They will only be giving updates to their reports and clarification at the meeting. All the paperwork for the Annual Meeting is available to download via the two relevant items in the “Latest News” section.
And so, the end of my term as County Captain is just about at an end. Thank you all so much for the support you have given me over these last two years. There has been much achieved and much to be proud of, none of which could have happened without the enthusiastic support of the Exec. I wish Sue Ashworth every success in her role as County Captain and hope that she can enjoy her term in office as much as I have.
With best wishes to you all,
