Natasha Gough (Ellesborough)

TASHA VOTED SPORTS PERSONALITY

"The Bucks. Herald" announced on 24th. November that Tasha Gough has been voted "The Bucks. Herald Sports Personality of the Year for 2005" in their website poll. Tasha, 18, a pupil at Aylesbury High School, having earned national success, with her club, Ellesborough G.C., and the county, polled more than 8000 votes in a five-way contest for the prestigious award. She gained 2000 more votes than tennis player Julia Bone in second place, who made her debut at Junior Wimbledon in the summer. The other sportsmen in the vote, which was promoted on "Aylesbury Today", were athlete Ben Gregory, tenpin bowler Lee Miller and boxer Nathan Graham.

SUCCESS FOR NICOLE

- Nicole lies in 8th. place on the final leaderboard of the Daily Telegraph and is first reserve to go to the finals in Dubai.
- Nicole has been selected to represent England Under 18 Girls in their annual match against the England Under 16 Boys at Long Ashton Golf Club on Sunday 9th. October; she thus wins her first full England cap and will have the uniform to go with it.

VICKY FROST REACHES NATIONAL SEMI-FINAL

The Izzo National Champion of Champions' competition is open to all lady Club Champions. Vicky Frost was entered as the 2004 Buckingham Champion (she was also the Champion for Windmill Hill) - at 17 she was the youngest competitor in the field. Having won the initial stage of the knock-out competition to become the Bucks. Champion, Vicky reached the semi-final where she lost to the Warwickshire Champion who now goes on to the final at The Belfry. On route Vicky beat both the Northamptonshire and the Berkshire Champion - well done!

S.E. DIVISION JUNIOR CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS

The South East Division Junior Girls' Champion of Champions' competition was held at Knole Park G.C., Sevenoaks, on Sunday 11th. September, an 18 hole Medal competition for the County Champions and Runners-up. Nicole Whitmore with a gross 74 finished in third place on countback from Emily Heath (Berks.) - Hannah Ralph (Sussex) retained the trophy with a gross 72. Tasha Gough finished 1 shot further back with a 75.

* * BUCKS. GIRLS WIN S.E. DIVISION FINAL * *

This year Junior County Week was held at Army Golf Club, Aldershot, from 15th. to 17th. August. Winning each of their four matches the Bucks. girls successfully defended the title that they won last year. They then went on to meet Essex in the South East Division Final which was held at Bush Hill Park Golf Club, near Enfield, on Sunday 28th. August.

VICKI HARRIS IN FALDO SERIES FINAL

In extremely wet conditions Vicki Harris (Beaconsfield) shot a two over par 74 at the third and last South East England qualifying round at Burhill Golf Club on 18th. August. This result combined with her previous two rounds puts Vicki at the top of the leaderboard - she now goes on to the Faldo Series Final to be held at The Celtic Manor Resort (Ryder Cup venue for 2010) over three days in September. Steph Gough came second with a 75 and finished second overall in the area qualifying rounds. Well done to both girls!

GIRLS' BRITISH OPEN AMATEUR CHAMPS.

Junior Captain Tasha Gough (Ellesborough) and Nicole Whitmore (Woburn) were among the 144 qualifiers for the Girls' British Open Amateur Champs. which were held at West Hill Golf Club, Surrey, from 8th. to 12th. August. There were over 180 entries for the event - the cut was made at handicap 4.7.

ENGLISH GIRLS' UNDER 15 & UNDER 13 CHAMPS.

These were held this at Henbury G.C., Gloucestershire, from 8th. to 13th. August. An 18 hole qualifying round was played on each of the first three days. The leading 30 players and ties in the Under 15's and the leading 12 in the Under 13's qualified for an 18 hole strokeplay final on Friday. Three Bucks. girls took part:
- Steph Gough (Ellesborough), Under 15's
- Rachel Drummond (Beaconsfield), Under 15's
- Chelsea Kemp (Windmill Hill), Under 13's
N.B. Steph qualified for the final round of the U15 Championships.

ENGLISH GIRLS' CHAMPS. 2005
(Monday 25th. to Saturday 30th. July)

Seven girls from Bucks. took part last week in the English Girls' Close Amateur Champs. which were held at Liphook Golf Club, Hants. There were two rounds of strokeplay qualifying, 18 holes on Tuesday and 18 holes on Wednesday. The leading 32 players qualified for the Championship Matchplay and the next 32 players competed in Flight 2 with the finals taking place on Saturday.

N.B. Nicole Whitmore in 39th., Tasha Gough in 41st. and Steph Gough in 60th. position all qualified for the Flight 2 Matchplay stage. For full details of all the qualifying scores and to follow the girls' progress through the knock-out stage click here:- www.englishladiesgolf.org

DAILY TELEGRAPH QUALIFYING COMPETITIONS

The qualifying event run by the B.C.L.G.A. was held at Aylesbury Park G.C. on Sunday 17th. July. Tasha Gough from Ellesborough G.C. won the event with a score of -1. For the full results of the County qualifier go to the "Junior Fixtures 2005" Page.

Earlier in the season Nicole Whitmore from Woburn won the qualifier held at North Hants G.C. with a score of +4. Both girls now have to wait to see if they will be one of the eight girls to qualify for the Finals in Dubai in October. (Nicole went to the finals in Sun City for the last two years). Tasha's score is currently the third best score.

NICOLE SELECTED FOR SCHOOLS INTERNATIONAL

The English Schools' Final took place at Trentham G.C. on 27th. June. Nicole Whitmore shot rounds of 1 over and 3 over to take third place. Katie Thompson from Hampshire became the Englsh Schools' Champion with a total of 3 over for the two rounds. Clara Leathers played 6 over in the morning but struggled in the afternoon.

Nicole and 5 other girls were then selected to play in the English Schools' International Match against Scotland which is being played on Monday 19th. September at Glasgow Gailes G.C., Irvin, Strathclyde. The full team consists of 12 boys and 6 girls.

BUCKS. GIRLS WIN S.E. ENGLAND SCHOOLS CHAMPS.

The S.E. England Schools Championships were held at Warley Park G.C. in Brentwood, Essex on Wednesday 1st. June. There were teams from Beds., Bucks., Cambs., Essex and Herts., Norfolk and Suffolk. The teams comprised of 3 players; the best two scores in the morning were added to the best two scores in the afternoon to give the team total.

Nicole Whitmore won the individual title with a score of 78 (+5) and 77 (+4) and Clara Leathers came second with an 80 and a 77. Bucks. therefore won the team competition ahead of Essex and Norfolk, a great achievement as there were only two players making up the Bucks. team. Nicole and Clara qualified for the Schools National Championships to be held on 27th. June at Trentham G.C., Staffs.

FALDO SERIES WIN FOR VICKI HARRIS

The second round of the South East England qualifying competitions was held on 24th. May at East Sussex National Golf Club. Vicki Harris won the event and is now on the top of the leaderboard with one round to go, at Burhill Golf Club on 22nd. August. Steph Gough who won the first round at Royal St. George's is now lying second on the leaderboard.

NATASHA GOUGH - BB&O CHAMPION

Natasha (Ellesborough) shot a Gross 76 to win the BB&O Championships which were played at Badgemoor Park G.C. on Saturday 23rd. April. Runner-up up was Rachel Drummond (Beaconsfield) with a Gross 78.

FIRST ROUND FALDO SERIES WIN FOR STEPH GOUGH

Steph Gough won the first round of the Faldo Junior Series South East Division held at Royal St. George's, Sandwich, on Friday 22nd. April with a 6 over par round of 82 ( 8 over on front nine and 2 under on the back 9) - excellent scoring on such a difficult course. Victoria Harris came second two shots back, with Tash Gough in fifth place.

PRE-HANDICAP BADGE/COMPETITION DAY

The event held at Chiltern Hospital on 6th. April was well organised by Jane Etheridge and Sue Craft. It was a very wet day and since the course was not closed and there was no thunder and lightning play went ahead! Well done to the 22 little girls who played in the morning and especially to about half the field who went back out and played another nine holes in the afternoon.

NICOLE WHITMORE - JUNIOR CHAMPION 2005

The Junior County Championships were played at Woburn Golf Club on Monday 4th. April. Nicole Whitmore playing at her home club shot a gross 79 to take the title from last year's champion, Tasha Gough.

THE GILL BATCHELOR TROPHY WINNER

At the Championship prizegiving Peter Batchelor presented the Gill Batchelor Trophy to this year's winner, Zoe Fitz-Costa.

THE FIRST JUNIOR RESULTS FOR 2005
