Seniors' County Championship - 2021 Results

The BCLGA Seniors’ County Championship was held on 21 July 2021 at The Buckinghamshire. A record entry of 43 ladies played in the blistering heat having sensibly anticipated every eventuality thereby all safely coming through the day despite the exacting conditions.

Inevitably, as the matches finished and the players sought the ‘shade’ and the scores came in, we heard the traditional tales of woe: ‘balls in the ponds’, ‘balls lost in the rough’, players heading down the wrong fairway and golfers sighs of “if only……”. So, it is only fair that the heroes of the hours spent on the Course, primarily refereeing the Competition, that we recognise the sterling support of Sue McKeon and assistant Ruth Lambert ‘resuscitating’, non-stop, very tired ladies with multiple bottles of water and ice.

The leader in the Clubhouse, Powatti Simper, had just finished her supper when the last group came-in with Katie Reid tying Powatti’s gross score. Meaning, Powatti had to return to her car to retrieve her clubs before the sudden-death play-off began at 8.25pm on the 9th. Surrounded by players; Katie triumphed and took the Championship and our Congratulations
go to both Katie and Powatti.

There then followed the presentation of prizes by the County President, Lynda Hilton and thanks by the County Captain, Janet Beal.

Champion - Katie Reid (Gerrards Cross)
Runner-Up – Powatti Simper (Abbey Hill)
3rd Gross – Denise Goodacre (Burnham Beeches)
1st Net – Fiona Moore (Harewood Downs)
2nd Net – Fiona Llewelyn (Woburn)

It goes without saying, that The Buckinghamshire’s Club’s organisation, hospitality and care for the Ladies was outstanding in every way and we extend our many thanks to the General Manager and all his Staff.

Competitions Secretary
