NICOLE WHITMORE IN SUN CITY CLARA LEATHERS IN FALDO SERIES FINAL BUCKS. JUNIOR GIRLS IN THE SOUTH EAST AREA FINAL Essex beat the Bucks. Junior Girls, 5 - 2, in the South East Area Final which was played at North Hants. Golf Club on Sunday, 12th. September. Well done to all the girls on reaching the Final - the girls coped well with the difficult, blustery conditions and did not seem to be phased by the sea of red supporters. Essex were last year's losing finalists and, with the experience gained this year, it should not be too long before the Bucks. girls take the title. GIRLS' BRITISH OPEN AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS This event took place at Lanark Golf Club in Scotland from 4th. to 8th. August. Clara Leathers and Nicole Whitmore qualified to play in this prestigious Championship. The playing conditions were tough with the Course set up with difficult pin positions. The scores were high considering the elite field. Clara and Nicole struggled with their scores but gained valuable experience from playing amongst the best girls in Europe. The qualifying event run by the B.C.L.G.A. was held at Aylesbury Park G.C. on Sunday 11th. July. Clara Leathers from Ellesborough G.C., won the event by playing to level par. She now has to wait to see if she will be one of the eight girls to qualify for the Finals at Sun City in October, following in the footsteps of Nicole Whitmore from last year. BRITISH HEART FOUNDATION TEAM EVENT Natalie Robinson from Ellesborough G.C. was one of the three pupils who represented the Grange School, Aylesbury in the qualifying competition for the British Heart Foundation. Natalie scored an amazing 53 points and the team now go forward to the final which is being played at The Belfry in September. ENGLISH SCHOOLS' NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS The S.E. Schools qualifying competition was held on Sunday 2nd. May. Three Bucks. girls took part - Nicole Whitmore, Natasha and Stephanie Gough. The scores were all very high but Nicole qualified in third place to go through to the National Championships which were held on Monday 28th. June at Thetford Golf Club. With a par of 74 the winning score for the 36 holes was 8 over par. Nicole had played in the 36 hole competition for the Pleasington Putter the day before, and with all the travelling involved, did not play her best golf finishing some 11 shots behind the leader. DAILY TELEGRAPH QUALIFIER AT CAMBRIDGE G.C. Nicole Whitmore shot level par 73 in the "Daily Telegraph" qualifying competition held at Cambridge G.C. on Saturday, 12th. June. This puts Nicole at the top of the leaderboard - the top eight girls and eleven boys qualify for the Finals in Sun City later in the year (Nicole qualified for the Finals last year). MEGHAN McLAREN COMES SECOND IN REGIONAL FINALS Megan Maclaren from Windmill Hill Golf Club won the "Wee Wonders" qualifying competition at Greetham, run by the EGU. She went through to the Regional Finals at the Alison Nicholas Academy on Sunday 20th. June where she hit the ball really well and came second. She finished on the 10th. Green with the winner finishing on the 11th. Fairway. GILL BATCHELOR TROPHY This year's winner of the trophy is Helen Mackreath of Ellesborough G.C. NICOLE WHITMORE - BUTCH HARMON COACHING COURSE Nicole Whitmore has been selected, along with 14 other U.K. girls, to attend the "Red Bull Masterclass" on 3rd. and 4th. June at The Belfry, where she will be coached by Butch Harmon and his three brothers. Coaching will take place on the first day and the morning of the second day, finishing with the final nine holes being played of the Brabazon Course. From all the information they will have gathered over the two days the coaches will select 2 girls and 2 boys to go on a trip to the Dick Harmon School of Golf in Houston, Texas, for a week's tuition in October. THE NICK FALDO SERIES COMPETITION Clara Leathers won the First Round of the South East area qualifying competition that took place at Walton Heath Golf Club on Wednesday 7th. April. In third place was Nicole Whitmore, fourth Natasha Gough and sixth Steph Gough. THE GIRLS' COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIPS NICOLE WHITMORE - JOINT EIGHTH AT St. ANDREWS Nicole Whitmore from Woburn Golf Club was selected by E.L.G.A. to be a member of the English team which took part in the S.L.G.A. St. Leonards School Under 16 Open Stroke Play Championship held at Strathtyrum Golf Club, St. Andrews on Thursday 8th. and Friday 9th. April. The other girls making up the English squad of 14 are:- TWO JUNIORS RECORD WINS IN FIRST TEAM MATCH Clara Leathers and Natasha Gough played for the First Team in their encounter against Middlesex on Saturday 20th. March at Burnham Beeches and both recorded victories. The Friendly warm-up match was halved 4 - 4. For full results see the "Match Results" Section. FIRST RESULTS FOR 2004 The first results are now available for 2004. During the week of half-term the County girls played their first Competition of the year (the B.B. & O.
