BB&O Girls v BB&O U14 Boys v BB&O U16 Boys

Our final friendly match of the season was played at Gerrards Cross on Sunday 16th November - the BB&O Girls V U14 BB&O Boys V U16 BB&O Boys, six in each team (two in each category from each county), a format I had never heard of before but which worked surprisingly well. One from each team went out and played a three way singles match play, all off scratch. Everyone had to have their wits about them to keep up with the scoring!!

The Under 16 boys were the winners followed by the Under 14's and then the girls. The odds were greatly stacked aginst the girls as the matches were off scratch and no allowance was given for the difference in Standard Scratch either.

Zoe Fitz-Costa led the girls out and managed to take her under 16 boy to the 16th even though he was a scratch player. Chelsea Kemp did marvellously by beating her Under 14 boy and taking her Under 16 boy, a 1 handicapper, to the final putt on the 18th. Well done to both girls.

All the girls enjoyed the challenge and the boys, as usual, were charming and good hosts. Our thanks go to the BB&O for organising such an enjoyable day.

Next year we shall definitely be negotiating shots!!

RESULT: Winners - Boys U16; Second - Boys U14; Third - Girls

Bucks. County Girls v Beaconsfield Boys

On Thursday 14th August a high handicap team of girls was fielded in the annual match against Beaconsfield Boys. The weather threatened rain with distant thunder and black clouds but they were extremely lucky not to get wet.

Due to one of the team withdrawing an hour before the tee time, the reserve Rebecca Parmenter dashed from Woburn to Beaconsfield, an enormous thank you to Mrs Parmenter.

The girls played some excellent golf and enjoyed the experience but the boys outplayed them with more birdies and eagles! All the matches were lost with the last match going all the way to the 18th.

The team was:

Victoria Bryan

Lucy Etheridge

Megan Lance

Lucy Matthews

Rebecca Parmenter

Olivia Thompson

Thank you to Beaconsfield

RESULT: LOST 0 - 6

Bucks. County Girls v Oxfordshire

The Bucks. girls played their match against Oxfordshire in very hot and humid conditions on
Sunday 1st. June, on the hilly course of Kirtlington. There was a huge difference in handicaps - the Oxfordshire girls had to give lots of shots but they had to play really well to win. It was an exceedingly happy occasion, all the girls were charming and our girls benefitted from the
experience of playing against older and better players.
Team:
Gemma Dryburgh (Hcp 9)
Annabel Dimmock (Hcp 17)
Eleanor Dimmock (Hcp 18)
Katy Lane (Hcp 23)
Daisy Lewis (Hcp 28)
Hannah Marshall (Hcp 30)
Rebecca Parmenter (Hcp 35)

RESULT: LOST 3 - 4

Bucks. County Girls v Berkshire

Junior Team v Berks
The Team at Calcot Park for the Match v Berks.

The Bucks. girls played their annual match against Berkshire on Tuesday 27th. May at Calcot
Park. Pat Allen, the Berks. CJO, was a perfect host. She was extremely friendly and very
welcoming to us all. The course was in superb condition considering all the rain it had received over the Bank Holiday weekend. Calcot Park is a beautiful undulating parkland course where our players spotted deer. Some of the girls played the very daunting 7th signature hole, across a lake to an elevated green with ease. Evie holed a 40 foot putt on the 6th while Victoria was 5 down on the 12th, all square on the 17th but lost the last hole. All the girls played very well, most of them below their handicap - although we were narrowly beaten we all had a very enjoyable day.
Team:
Evie Ing (Captain) - Lost 3 & 2
Annabel Dimmock - Halved
Charlotte Nutt - Won 7 & 6
Emily Marler - Lost by 1 hole
Eleanor Dimmock - Won 5 & 3
Victoria Whittaker - Lost by 1 hole
Megan Lance and Lucy Etheridge played together as Berks were one player short.

RESULT: LOST 2½ - 3½

Bucks. County Girls v Woburn Boys

The Bucks. Girls played their annual fixture against the Woburn boys team on Tuesday 19th.
February. The team was Steph Gough, Victoria Collis, Emma Hargreaves, Zoe Fitz Costa,
Chelsea Kemp, Evie Ing and Alice Richards. We played a 7-a-side singles match and Woburn Boys won 4-3.The girls played very well particularly as it was a very cold, frosty day and the course was so frozen that the balls were bouncing everywhere, particularly on the green!
Woburn was very hospitable and it was a very enjoyable fixture.

RESULT: LOST 3 - 4
