Welcome to the BCLGA WebsiteGPS Measuring Devices Ruling
A reminder of the position regarding Distance Measuring Devices: COUNTY COMPETITIONS: At the B.C.L.G.A. Executive Meeting on 3rd September 2008 it was agreed to allow the use of GPS and other measuring devices in competitions:- "In competitions a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance only. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device that is designed to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect her play (e.g. gradient, windspeed, temperature, etc.) the player is in breach of Rule 14-3, for which the penalty is disqualification, regardless of whether any such additional function is actually used." N.B. This new ruling came into effect for competitions starting from 1st October 2009. Their use is not allowed in the County Championships, County Week or ANY JUNIOR COMPETITIONS. EWGA RULING: Also a reminder that as from 1st January 2010 EWGA has decided to allow the use of distance measuring devices in EWGA medals, Australian Spoons and the PING four ball better ball tournament at club level and where there is a local rule in place allowing the use of DMDs. However, EWGA will continue not to allow DMDs for all regional* and national competitions. |
